The 50th Corcoran Ball

The Corcoran Gallery of Art’s 50th Anniversary Ball was a highly anticipated event that didn’t fail to disappoint. Over 1,300 guests marveled at the extraordinary decorations and floral arrangements designed to complement the artwork on the walls of a dozen different galleries. The ball was with an exclusive viewing of their exhibit, “Closer to Home.” Spanish Ambassador Carlos Westendorp and his wife, Cabeza, served as honorary patrons, just as the Spanish ambassador did at the first Corcoran Ball in 1955. The evening’s proceeds support scholarships, exhibitions and educational programs.
