Salsa and Belly Dancing

Colombian Ambassador Luis Moreno and his wife, Gabriela, joined Jordanian Ambassador Karim Kawar and his wife, Luma, in hosting a most unusual fete at the Moreno’s residence on March 5. Guests were asked to dress in either Latin- or Arab-inspired attire, which featured alternating cumbria and salsa (provided by a live orchestra) and Middle Eastern disco tunes. A belly dancer and Colombian folk dance troupe helped keep things lively until well past midnight. Before the evening came to a close, the hostesses led a conga line and were joined by some of their vivacious guests, including Vernon and Ann Jordan, Samia Farouki, Mel Estrin, Grace Bender, Ann and Clay Johnson, Sedi Flugelman and Isabel Ernst.
