55th Presidential Inauguration
An Intimate Inaugural Evening

While over 12,000 guests donned black-ties and boots across town, local and visiting VIP’s joined hostesses Buffy Cafritz, Ann Jordan, Phyllis George and Kelly Day at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel for a late supper on Inaugural eve. Despite snowy weather and the high security road closures, 300 of the hostesses’ closest friends made sure to be there, including Barbara Walters, former Secretaries of State James Baker and Colin Powell, Justice Steven Breyer and many members of the diplomatic corps. The Cafritzes have hosted a bipartisan inaugural dinner every four years since 1981.
