First Nations Night Gala Reception
Celebrating the Culture of America’s First People
The Smithsonian marked the opening of the National Museum of the
American Indian with an evening inspired by Native American traditions on
September 27. Music and arts demonstrations were presented throughout
the building while guests had the chance to view the museum and its various
collections. The “First Nations Night” gala reception was the finale to a
week-long celebration on the National Mall. Opening day began with a
Native Nations Procession (the largest gathering of Native Americans in
modern history), and the museum remained open all night long for visitors.
Don’t miss seeing the 13-minute film “Who We Are,” which rivals any IMAX
experience.
