Creative Coalition Capitol Hill Spotlight Awards
Gift Bags, Glitz and Glamour
The Creative Coalition hosted a star-studded shopping spree fundraiser at
Georgetown’s B & B Italia on March 30. Depending on the size of the guests’s
donation, they received tickets to trade for Graham Webb hair care products,
jewelry by Elini, fine cigars, furniture from host B& B Italia and other merchandise.
Actor Sean Astin, MSNBC’s Chris Matthews, Rep. Mary Bono and Rep. Harold
Ford, Jr. were awarded the 2004 Capitol Hill Spotlight Award for their social
and public advocacy work. The Creative Coalition is a nonprofit social and
public advocacy organization dedicated to educating its members on issues
such as First Amendment rights, arts advocacy and public education.
Other celebrities seen mingling with the political and social set included Joe
Pantoliano, Michele Lee and Patty Duke, Sean Astin’s mother. Actor Richard
Beltzer played host but got a groan from the crowd when he joked that “Washington is Hollywood for ugly people.” But Richard, don’t you live in
Hollywood? What’s your excuse? Remember, “they” also say ”Hollywood is
Washington for shallow people!”
