Phillips Collection Black & White Ball
Let There Be Light

This year's Black and White Ball for the Phillips Collection Contemporaries raised approximately $25,000 which will be earmarked to purchase new photographs for the collection. Chic and elegant installation lights by local artist and committee member, Kathryn Cornelius, who designed the “Birch tree lights” for the event, lit up the modern Finnish Embassy. Music by local cover band “Black Tie” kept the crowd of 250 energized and dancing. The ball was also to celebrate the addition of two new photographs for the collection, Berenice Abbott's “ New York at Night” and Aaron Siskind's “ Martha's Vineyard .”

The Phillips Collection Contemporaries is a group of over 700 young supporters that organize fundraisers and art educational programs. Over the last 16 years, the group has purchased a number of photographs for the museum and has funded various special projects.
