International Human
Rights Law Group’s
25th AnniversaryPartners for Justice and Global Rights
The International Human
Rights Law Group (IHRLG) celebrated 25 years anda new name with a celebration
at the Grand Hyatt Hotel late last year . Civil rights activist Julian Bond
and musical guests Sweet Honey in the Rock and the Keter Betts Quintet joined
guests in celebrating the music and poetry of the human rights movement. IHRLG
is now Global Rights, a name that the group feels better explains its mission.
Global Rights is a non-profit organization that brings together human rights
and legal professionals to train local human rights advocates around the world
and helps them draw worldwide attention to their causes. The group has worked
with Afghan organizations to help ensure the protection of Afghan women’s
rights and played a major role in the successful passage of the first-ever
Gender Equality Law in Bosnia and Herzegovia.
