Smithsonian Young Benefactors’ Gala Partying after the Storm
The Young Benefactors of the Smithsonian Institution didn’t let a
little thing like Hurricane Isabel get in the way of its 14th annual
black-tie gala on September 20. Two days after Isabel stormed
through town, young, professional, culture-loving Washingtonians
boogied to the sounds of Gonzo’s Noise in the Great Hall of
the National Postal Museum until midnight, then headed to The
Capitol City Brewing Company for an after-party. Proceeds from
ticket sales and the over 200 silent auction items totaled over
$50,000. Young Benefactors support the work of the Smithsonian
by fundraising and volunteer activities.
