| | They Still CARE The organization whose name is synonymouswith "CARE" packages and provides aid toimpoverished and war-torn nations, held itsannual gala on May 9. This year's event had aspecial poignancy, because of the war in Iraq.Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen.Richard Myers, and Vice Chairman Gen. PeterPace were on hand for the festivities that beganwith the customary black-tie embassy dinners(at 32 embassies this year) followed by dessertand dancing at The Organization of AmericanStates. In all, over 500 people attended theevent, helping raise over $370,000. The eventco-chairs were Lois Breaux, Susan BlumenthalMarkey, and Mary Jo Myers. | |
