The Cancer Research Foundation of America, under the patronage of ItalianAmbassador Ferdinando Salleo and his wife Anna Maria, held a black-tiefundraiser on March 9th at the National Building Museum. Gross proceeds fromthe gala, attended by over 1,000 people, totalled over $1.6 million and will benefitthe research and educational programs of the Foundation, including theGeorge Washington University Mammovan which provides mammogramsfree of charge to medically underserved women in the National Capitalarea and the 21st Century Young Scientists Fund, which provides supportto scientists at leading academic institutions. Since its inception, theFoundation has supported research, education, and early detection programsin excess of $42.1 million.
