Orphan Foundation of America's Oliver Awards Dinner
For Kids' Sake

Hillary Clinton and House Majority Whip Tom Delay of Texas shared the stage and applause as recipients ofthe Orphan Foundation of America's 2000 Humanitarian Awards. Both were honored for their long-standingbipartisan commitment to children, specifically their work on two key pieces of legislation: the 1997Adoption and Safe Families Act (which dissolved existing barriers to adoption), and the Foster CareReform Act (which extended benefits and assistance to adolescents "aging out" of foster care at the ageof 18). The 7th annual Oliver Awards Dinner also served as the perfect occasion to recognize and honor 12college-bound foster youth who were selected to take part in OFA’s national leadership and scholarshipprogram, known as the Oliver Project. They are among the 150 students who will benefit from the $500,000in total scholarship monies raised by the OFA this year alone.
