Flagship Dinner Attracts Environmental Leaders
The League of Conservation Voters held their 2000 Annual Washington, DC Dinner this autumn
at the Willard Inter-Continental Hotel, attracting national political leaders both as guests and
speakers. Ted Turner, winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award, was the featured guest. The
League, a bipartisan political voice of the environmental movement, is the only national environmental
organization devoted full-time to holding members of Congress accountable for their environmental
votes. Its mission is to protect the environment through political action by educating
voters and winning elections. LCV annually publishes the National Environmental Scorecard that
provides objective factual information about every member of Congress’ voting record.
