Whirling Windmills and Dinner
Following the opening night performance of “Don Quichotte” at the Kennedy Center, a black-tie gala
dinner was held in the ballroom of the Organization of American States to celebrate the Washington
Opera’s 45th anniversary season. Roses filled the hall and the ballroom was decorated to transport
guests back to the romantic Spain of Don Quixote. Artistic Director Placido Domingo, mezzo-soprano
Denyce Graves and other stars from the cast mingled with Supreme Court justices and other prominent
Washingtonians.
