A diverse group of young and old, two-legged and four-legged friends came to lend support to the League on October 18th at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel in D.C. In a ballroom decorated with animal-shaped topiaries, the mood was upbeat for an evening of cocktails, fine food, live blues music, pet tricks, and a silent auction featuring a classic 1955 T-Bird. Top Dog/Top Cat award presen-tations went to actress Stephanie Powers for her work with The William Holden Wildlife Foundation and to the evening’s mistress of ceremonies, WRC-TV 4’s anchor Barbara Harrison, for her longtime support, community outreach and awareness efforts. Approximately $125,000 was raised to support the full-service. Medical Center, opened in spring 1996, which provides low-cost care to over 3,000 pets of low-income owners each year.
