The Taste of
Thailand benefi t for posttsunami
orphans was hosted
by the U.S.-Thailand Amity for
Charity Foundation. Esther
Coopersmith organized the
lavish dinner at the Marrio
Wardman Park on June
22. The evening featured
specialties by four of the
world’s leading Thai chefs.§
KEY PLAYERS:
Nearly
all of Washington’s A-list
joined Crown Prince Maha
Vajiralongkorn and members
of the Thai royal family and
Czech supermodel Petra
Nemcova, who survived
the Tsunami with a broken
pelvis but tragically lost her
fi ancé. The event featured
a performance from Marvin
Hamlisch and an auction
conducted by tiny Dr.
Ruth Westheimer, who
cautioned Nemcova not
to allow anyone to touch
(the fabulous Cartier watch
she modelled) unless they
were going to bid on it.
