Washington Ballet Jete Society Big 80's Dance Party and Auction
We Can Dance if We Want To

The sounds of Michael Jackson, Culture Club and Duran Duran were heard throughout the Organization of American States building on November 8 at The Washington Ballet's Jete Society Annual Dance Party. The Jete Society brings together a younger crowd of balletomanes for a special three-series subscription package and hip, chic and fun events. This year's 80s theme brought out fashions we had hoped never to see again. The ballroom was draped in neon and flashing lights and guests had the chance to dance to retro hits with company members.

Proceeds of the event benefit DanceDC/Dancing with Words, a partnership between the Washington Ballet and D.C. public elementary schools. The program provides in-school and after-school activities that introduce dance, reading and poem writing to students. This year's Dance Party netted $40,000 for the cause, up $5,000 from last year.
