Light of Truth

Friends of the International Campaign for Tibet (ICT) gathered at a VIP reception with His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama at the Park Hyatt Hotel on September 10. Among the guests were the campaign's "Light of Truth" award recipients, former Rep. Benjamin Gilman, Professor Robert Thurman, and Michele Bohana, who were honored for their longstanding work for Tibet. The Dalai Lama thanked the group for its support and urged its continuation. Other speakers at the awards ceremony included Assistant Secretary of State Lorne Craner, Rep. Mark Kirk, Joel McCleary, Lodi Gyari and Ngawang Sangdroi. More than a million Tibetans have died under the Chinese occupation as a result of starvation, execution, and torture.
