Cutting Edge Bikinis
Cutting Edge Bikinis

It is no surprise that skin is in, and bikinis have permanentlystaked their ground as the preferred swimsuit. This season’smost popular suit at Sylene, the Chevy Chase lingerie and swimboutique, is the Eres lasercut bikini ($318). It features theragged edges that have been all over fashion runways for thepast few seasons. The tube bikini is more flattering than onemight suspect, it is made from a micro-fibre mix of polyamidespandexto sculpt the suit against the body contours. It’s a favorite among thosein Washington with little to hide and a lot to spend.

White
Be it a peasant blouse, a lace shirt, or this season’s slouchywide-leg pants at Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana, it has to be white. The best way to keep things easy and modern for summer is tokeep it clean and crisp as well, and play with proportions. Pair flowy tops with narrowtrousers, and fitted jackets with wide linen pants. Saks Jandel can hardly keepTom Ford’s spring collection for YSL in the store, particularly his white suits, as well asthose from Valentino. Ralph Lauren’s version (pictured above), available at NeimanMarcus, of slender pants with this season’s wide belt and a relaxed shirt and blazerwill have anyone ready for the Hamptons.

Originally created in 1938 for the Italian Navy, the Radiomir was the first water-resistant militarywatch in history. Relaunched in the mid 1990s, soon it was added to Cartier’s stable of luxurywatches. The oversize watch has since swept through Hollywood, with several females even pickingup on the trend. Famous wearers of Panerai include Jerry Seinfeld, Arnold Shwarzenegger,Charlize Theron and Hugh Grant. Rumor has it that last month Russell Crowe bought 35 for his closestfriends. With prices ranging from $2500 - $25,000 a watch, that is a very generous gift.Available at Liljenquist and Beckstead in Tysons II.

Espadrilles Espadrilles
This straw and canvas footwear keeps coming in and out of style every couple of years, but we areparticularly drawn to its current reincarnation. With lace-up anklestraps, a wedge heel, and delicate straps around the foot, it bears littleresemblance to its bohemian origins. Our favorites are from MaxMara (pictured at right) and Michael Kors.
