Cisco Systems co-founder Sandy Lerner brandished a blue manicure and an escort who reminded us ofChuck Norris as she greeted 200 guests at her Upperville estate, Ayrshire Farm, for an evening ofdinner and dancing to benefit The Virginia Regional Therapeutic Riding Center at MadcapFarm in mid-August. Jeanne M. Blackwell, the center’s co-founder and guiding spirit, explained thebenefits of pairing emotionally and physically challenged riders with gentle horses. Silent auctionitems included: a bronze sculpture by Lorenzo Ghilieri appraised at $30,000, One Family’sCappery with Ashland bassets for next year’s hunting season, and “Dog Heraldry” – a book of theofficial collection of canine coats of arms. The benefit raised over $50,000 for the riding center.
