Making a Splash

An annual summer tradition, Coach Kathy Kemper teamed up with the Ambassador of Argentina GuillermoGonzalez to host a pool party at the ambassador’s residence. The party preceded Washington’s premiercelebrity tennis tournament— the Eighth Annual Institute for Education Tennis Charity Round Robin. Theannual tournament held at the Congressional Country Club pits Washington’s VIPs from the diplomaticcorps, media, Congress, and the White House against a number of area corporate sponsors. This year'simpressive roster of players included: tennis great Gabriela Sabatini (who was presented with the key tothe city at the party by Mayor Williams), Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, General Alexander Haig, FCCChair William Kennard, Senator Evan Bayh, Venturehouse Group CEO Mark Ein, Greek Ambassador AlexanderPhilon, Gene Sperling, and James Carney of Time magazine. The Institute for Education was founded topromote education as a tool for fostering success, and supports organizations who advocate these goals.
