Running July 9 through 28, the 37th season of the WTT is set to be a compelling and competitive venture, as the Kastles defend their 2011 championship title, and raise the stakes in the competition.
This past year the Kastles wowed the league’s 36-year history, with their second championship in three years, finishing the first-ever 16-0 season. This coming 2012 season will be only the fifth for the Kastles, begun by owner Mark Ein in 2008, giving you a taste for their resounding success and their impeccable drive.
“Coming off our historic season, we are very excited for the 2012 campaign to begin,” said Ein. “Our entire organization is energized to continue the incredible Kastles Stadium experience and bring back our third WTT Championship in five years to the Washington community.”
In addition to the regular season, the World TeamTennis Finals Weekend, presented by GEICO, will return Sept. 14-16, to the Family Circle Tennis Center in Charleston, SC, where the Kastles won the title last season.
“Charleston is the perfect getaway destination for this world class tennis event,” said Family Circle Tennis Center General Manager, Bob Moran. “WTT fans from across the country will enjoy Lowcountry beaches, history and southern charm as they cheer their teams on to a League Championship in the Best Tennis Town in America.”
Teams will begin to assemble their lineups on Tues., Feb. 14, with the WTT Marquee Player Draft. Teams will draft in reverse order of the 2011 winning finish, with the Kastles selecting last. Rosters will be completes Tues., Mar. 13, when the 2012 WTT draft is conducted.
