DC “It” girls Angie Gates, Angie Goff, Christine Brooks Cropper, and Jeannie Jones hosted an evening of “Champagne and Cinema” Wednesday night at the AFI Silver Theatre in Silver Spring, Maryland.  Over 200 guests mingled and enjoyed unique bubbly concoctions at the Moët reception and advanced screening of Sex and the City 2.

The four main champagne drinks to choose from, inspired by the personalities of SATC characters, were “The Fashionista” (a tasty blend of champagne and pomegranate, beautifully decorated with a sweet-scented flower petal), “The Player” (a deliciously tart champagne with lime), “The Socialite” (paired with an olive), and the popular “Bombshell” (champagne topped with a maraschino cherry).

The beverages weren’t the only things exuding the urban chic-ness of SATC’s Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda.  Guests arrived dressed to kill in their best SATC-inspired ensembles.  The AFI Theatre was swimming in high heels, eye-catching accessories, and cocktail attire.  The major fashion themes of the night?  Floral details and sparkles galore.  Jewelry was big, silver, and shining; as were shoes.  Like a disco ball for feet, a pair of towering Christian Louboutin heels were spotted covered in glistening silver sparkles.  One of the event’s hosts, Jeannie Jones, sported a very Carrie Bradshaw-esc look with a flower pin, a silver bag with flower detailing, and even shimmering silver flowers on her shoes.  Many dresses and tops with floral patterns were to be seen as well.

“This is a real example of how fashion is taking off in the city,” exclaimed host Angie Goff of the event in the Washington area.  Washington has often been criticized for being too conservative with fashion.  In the past, Washington fashion was about as exciting as watching paint dry.  Today, the District is slowly—but visibly—breaking that mold. An event like that of “Champagne and Cinema” reminds the world that DC does, in fact, have style.
